ENTERPRISE NCC-1701-D WINDOW PAINT MASKS for the 1400 scale AMT model kit

This masking set is custom designed specifically for use with the 1/1400 scale AMT model kit of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. This mask set is intended as a supplement to the Paint & Scrape method. While you may achieve full coverage using the masks alone, results may vary depending on individual technique and model surface conditions. The quantity and arrangement of the masks are designed to replicate the lighting pattern of the 6-foot filming model as seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Given the tiny size of many of the windows on the model kit it is recommended that you follow the following recommendations:
Wash all parts with soap and water to remove any mold release residue before applying the masks. If you plan to "mirror" the masks for light-blocking on interior surfaces, ensure the inside is cleaned as well.
A light wet sanding of the surface is also recommended to improve adhesion and paint durability.
Hand washing before handling the masks is advised, as natural skin oils can affect adhesion.
Do not use a heat gun or apply excessive heat to accelerate the drying of primers or paints, as this may cause the masks to delaminate from the hull and/or leave adhesive on the model.
The neck section masks are the smallest and most delicate. Due to their size, they are the most prone to adhesion failure. A combination of masks and the Paint & Scrape method is recommended for this area.
This set is recommended for experienced modelers who have in depth knowledge on using paint masks when painting and lighting plastic model kits.
