The Aires 4595 is a hyper-detailed aftermarket resin detail set in 1:48 scale. It is designed to replace the standard plastic parts of the Sepecat Jaguar aircraft model kits, specifically the Kitty Hawk model.
What Is Included?
The set upgrades the aircraft's landing gear area:
- Wheel Bays: Cast resin parts that replace the stock plastic pieces.
- Internal Detailing: Deeply recessed structural ribs, brackets, and complex hydraulic or electrical piping.
Key Details & Tips
Working with resin and aftermarket sets requires specific tools and skills:
- Resin Material: This material is crisp and detailed but much more brittle than plastic. Do not breathe in the dust when sanding. Wear a mask and wet-sand the pieces.
- Glue: You cannot use standard plastic cement (like Tamiya Cement). You must use cyanoacrylate glue (also known as Super Glue or CA glue) or epoxy.
- Fitment: Resin parts are thick and heavy. You will likely need to sand down the inside of the model kit's plastic wings or fuselage for the resin bays to sit completely flush.
- Painting: Wash the resin parts in warm soapy water to remove mold-release oils. Prime them with a high-quality model primer before applying paint.
