Saturday, July 3rd, 2004 was Free Comic Book Day, and the Hobby Centre / Cave Comics was celebrating to the fullest! With over 20 comic book titles to choose from, no one walked away empty handed. Events of the day included a Hero Clix demonstration, a big $1.00 Buck-Book sale on back issues, a draw for Spider-Man 2 posters and shirts donated by Columbia Tri-Star, book signings by local artists Ronn Sutton (Elvira) and Janet Hetherington (Eternal Romance), a sidewalk BBQ hosted by Montana's Cookhouse with proceeds going to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario).
To top things off, members of the staff dressed in full costume and even headed to the roof to entertain kids and adults alike. The local Microplay handed out free books and advertised and the neighbourhood Cineplex Odeon promoted with posters as well. After 6pm, the festivities moved to the South Keys Montana's patio for food and a superhero themed trivia session for more great prizes. With that all said and done, we're definitely looking forward to next year's events!
